Simon Woods is a wine writer I’ve known for more years than I care to remember. He has a very good website and his latest subject is the UK’s leading wine brands. He spent three weeks tasting the lot and you can see his “journey” (as everyone calls everything these days) on the link.

The bit that interested me without having to taste them all myself (don’t want to do that again!) is the sumary, a couple of points I repeat here;

1. If any wine lovers want to cut their consumption, switch to Big Brands – you won’t want to finish many of the bottles.
2. As I said before, Len Evans got it right – avoid mediocre wine.
