It seems so long since we last had Negro Amaro on the list and finally it's back. Not the identical wine to the one we had before, but from the same vineyard; 100% Negro Amaro grapes, 45 year-old vines grown in the 'heel' of Italy and producing this rich, smooth and fruity red which will make your Spag Bol go down a treat! Not bad with a Pizza Quattro Stagione, either.
All this for £6.99? Must be mad.

Robe Umbrian Sangiovese 2008 14% £6.99

From Roberto's organic vineyards comes this great red. Softly displaying its predominantly Sangiovese characteristics which are a lovely purity of plummy fruit liked a good Chianti but better (in my humble...) and elegant tannins then a short while in oak to add an extra something, but not heavy oak characters. Great value for money and a wine to enjoy on its own as well as with a good plate of Italian food. Approximately 85% Sangiovese with a cheeky 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.

New 2009 Vintage just arrived. The first wine we took (Les Hauts de Força) from this wonderful Domain just outside Pérpignan was immediately awarded 4 Stars in Decanter Magazine and recommended by Jancis Robinson M.W. in B.A.’s in-flight business magazine. We knew we would have to bring over more of their super wines. This is a rich, smooth and fruity little number just oozing with the characteristic berry flavours of top quality Roussillon.

Domaine Força Réal Mas de la Garrigue 2008 14.5% £7.99

Whilst the shistous vineyard of 'Les Hauts' gives a quite unique mineral quality, this Mas de la Garrigue is probably more mainstream Roussillon Villages. Lovely deep colour and perfumed nose. The palate is well structured and very much a food wine, however we have been known to have a bottle just on its own! Drink now to 2010.
