Quinta de Viluco Special Reserve Syrah 2005 £9.49

There are notes of white pepper, a hint of licorice, leather and spice along with the sweetly ripe black fruits. The tannins are present but they are as polite and fine-grained as could possibly be. A satisfying finish and a warming impression are left – this is a nicely poised effort. Discreet use of oak (10 months in second fill barrels) and well-managed tannins are the hallmark here.
