  • Domaine Louis Clerc Viognier

    Louis Clerc’s Condrieu is top of it’s class, but if you try their “simple” Viognier you might find it hard to tell the difference!

  • Domaine de la Pigeade Dry Muscat “Petits Grains de Folie”

    The southern Rhone is probably best known for its reds such as Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas …..and Vacqueyras. But they also make grow deliciously grapey, fleshy, fragrant Muscat grapes. Mainly they make a sweet pud wine, but occasionally they ferment it dry like this so you get all the fragrance of the muscat grapes, but it’s dry! My first reaction when I smelled it was “Turkish Delight”.  Enjoy it chilled on its own or with a smoked makerel pate? Lovely picnic wine.

  • Herbert Zillinger Gruner Veltliner “Horizont” NEW VINTAGE ARRIVED

    Last year JancisRobinson.com said; “Rich and talcum powdery on the nose. Very racy and flirtatious. Lovely balance between ripeness and acidity. Deep-throated pleasure. So pure! GV” Let’s see how this one does! It’s great to see a white wine which gets better with age.
    Ripe stone fruit notes bring the fruit into play. Enormous spice makes this Veltliner a typical representative of its class. A hint of pepper rounds it off perfectly – quite a classic, it is not afraid of appearing with salads, fish and white meat.

  • Champagne Marc Chauvet Brut Tradition

    Really! Honestly! Go no farther than Marc Chauvet for your Champagne. If you don’t want to spend £25, then try Blanquette de Limoux, but please don’t resort to cheap Champagne!

    To my mind Clotilde’s latest cuvee is her best yet! Soft, full, biscuity and long-lasting (in the palate, that is – I suspect the bottle will be polished off very quickly!)

    o 1/3 each Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier
    o 2/3 2015 vintage, 1/3 reserve wine
    o Dosage 12gms
    o Disgorged in after 3 years sur lattes

    Previous years’ accolades;

    Top 12 Fizzes for Christmas 2012 Daily Telegraph -“”Warm in style, nicely biscuity, with personality but one that will please a variety of tastes. Very box office.”

    A previous cuvee was also in Oz Clarke’s 250 Best Wines of 2011: “a fascinating wine,” and recommended by Victoria Moore in The Daily Telegraph November 2010: “delicious.”

    and recommended in The Guardian May 2010: “impressive.”
