Blanquette de Limoux Domaine Rosier
My favourite Blanquette de Limoux from over 200 tasted at the Vinisud Trade Wine Fair a couple of years back. Blanquette de Limoux differs from Cremant basically in the grapes used; in this case Mauzac and Chardonnay. It has been lees aged for 12 months and is a lovely clean, creamy style. The Rosier family is rightly proud of this, their top cuvee.

Cazas Novas Avesso “Pure”
We are excited to introduce a trio of super wines all from Cazas Novas in the north of Portugal, all made by Wimemaker of the Year, Diogo Lopes, and all made from the Avesso grape variety which is rapidly gaining kudos in Portugal. Wines made from the hand-picked grapes are aged sur lies for 4 months with “batonnage”.
One step up from the “Colheita”; selected parcels of grapes, lower production result in a lovely creaminess as well as its fresh crisp palate and good structure and minerality as well as extra bottle age. If you like Verus wines you’ll like this, for sure.Other Single Varietal RedDry & Soft WhitesFlinty and ComplexPortugal2020750 ml11%-12.5%£16.00

Jean Michel Dupré Beaujolais Villages Blanc La Ronze Blanche 2022
A hugely exciting new range of Cru Beaujolais specially brought in to give us all a vinous Christmas treat, but don’t wait for Christmas.
There’s a nice straw colour and a lemony nose, maybe a hint of caramel and citrus fruits. The palate is lean and minerally which to me is more reminiscent of a steely Chablis than a fat Macon so it goes really well with fruits de mer, fish dishes or just on its own as an apéro!
One third of the blend was aged in barrels for four months. So it’s not oaky, just rounded-out.

Jean Michel Dupré Morgon Grand Cras 2022
A hugely exciting new range of Cru Beaujolais specially brought in to give us all a vinous Christmas treat, but don’t wait for Christmas.
Jean-Michel’s own notes suggest hints of Kirsch, licorice and spices and he recommends Lapin aux Pruneaux as a meal to accompany the wine. Just off to the butcher’s to get some rabbit!
The slight 12½ % alcohol belies the lovely deep, fleshy and peppery flavours. I get parma violets if you remember those? Smooth tannins and a nice grip.

Laura Lardy Fleurie Les Côtes -sorry OOS, but try Laura’s dad’s Moulin-a-Vent.
A hugely exciting new range of Cru Beaujolais specially brought in to give us all a vinous Christmas treat, but don’t wait for Christmas.
Fleurie (along with Moulin-à-Vent and Morgon) are my favourite villages in Beaujolais and to repeat an often-told tale; I tasted over 120 different Fleurie producers at the Paris Wine Trade Fair and Laura’s was my stand-out by a long way.
Jean-Michel Dupré’s Morgon at £17 a bottle represents my best memory of what a top Crus Beaujolais should taste like. Then along comes Laura’s Fleurie which is like a turbo-charged version. So full of fruit and powerful “parma violet” flavours and with a structure which comes from eight months aging in large wooden casks before bottling. I can’t think of a finer example of Cru Beaujolais which can be drunk now and which will also age beautifully for a few more years yet.
Drink this with a wide variety of foods; rich fish dishes, meats, cheeses. Maybe just avoid anything too spicey.

Champagne Marc Chauvet Brut Tradition
Really! Honestly! Go no farther than Marc Chauvet for your Champagne. If you don’t want to spend £29.50, then try Blanquette de Limoux, but please don’t resort to cheap Champagne!
To my mind Clotilde’s latest cuvee is her best yet! Soft, full, biscuity and long-lasting (in the palate, that is – I suspect the bottle will be polished off very quickly!)
o 1/3 each Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier
o 2/3 2015 vintage, 1/3 reserve wine
o Dosage 12gms
o Disgorged in after 3 years sur lattesPrevious years’ accolades;
Top 12 Fizzes for Christmas 2012 Daily Telegraph -“”Warm in style, nicely biscuity, with personality but one that will please a variety of tastes. Very box office.”
A previous cuvee was also in Oz Clarke’s 250 Best Wines of 2011: “a fascinating wine,” and recommended by Victoria Moore in The Daily Telegraph November 2010: “delicious.”
and recommended in The Guardian May 2010: “impressive.”
