Château d’Or et de Gueules ‘Trassegum’ White organic
This wine was the very first one we had recommended in the national press when we started the business back in 2006.
The new 2021 vintage is arguably even better, I love it. Think creamy rich white Cotes du Rhone. Three months in barrel just to soften it out a bit and give a rich, soft nicely balanced white wine that will go really well with your Sunday roast.
Recommended by Jancis Robinson: “Lots of interest here.”
Previous vintages RECOMMENDED IN THE OBSERVER. The 2009 vintage displays a beautiful balance and is as good a white from the south of France as you will see anywhere. 50% of the blend is barrel-fermented Roussanne; the rest is unoaked Grenache Blanc and Rolle. It is a rich wine with an excellent balance of oak and will be perfect with your Sunday roast.

Château d’Or et de Gueules “Mon fut c’est du poulet?”
100% Syrah, more Crozes hermitage than Chateauneuf du Pape.
Diane’s husband, Matthieu, demonstrates both his fine winemaking skills as well as his sense of humour with this wine. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I’ll begin;
Matthieu devised a special cuvee, just one barrel, to mark the birth of his baby five years ago. Whist he was away on business one day, Diane unwittingly blended the barrel together with others destined to be the Trassegum Red final blend.
“Your’e kidding me?!!” said Matthieu on learning his barrel was gone. Translated from “Mon cul, c’est du poulet?” in French. In order not to offend sensitivities he replaced the vulgar “cul” (arse) with “fut” (barrel), and so the fith vintage of this birthday wine is Matthieu’s finest so far in his opinion. Lovely sort, round, fleshy Syrah with easy oak undertones.Shiraz/SyrahBig & Robust RedsFrance2020750 ml13-13.5%£16.00

Château d’Or et de Gueules “Le Fût entre 2 Chaises” ORANGE WINE
Following the runaway success of Mathieu’s Syrah, they have introduced a pink and now also an “Orange”. 100% Rolle grapes (aka Vermentino) fermented with the skins as you would a red wine, but no colour extraction, well, a bit – orange.

Laura Lardy Beaujolais Villages Red “Gourde a Gamay”
A hugely exciting new range of Cru Beaujolais specially brought in to give us all a vinous Christmas treat, but don’t wait for Christmas.
Unsurprisingly, considering Laura’s Fleurie, her “simple” Beaujolais Villages is a cut above the rest. If you remember the good old days of Beaujolais Nouveau when we looked forward to the 14th November and that deliciously grapey, Ribena-coloured youthful wine hit the shelves, then this is like that but soooo much better and with an extra dimension of structure to make it a joy to drink on its own but also with the meal.

“The Inspector General” from The Treaty Port Estate China
From a vineyard established in 2005 on the Shandong peninsula by Chris Ruffle comes this classic Bordeaux blend, aged in french oak barrels and displaying ripe, dark fruits and a hint of vanilla oak. No surprise that Chateau Lafite chose to make their first Chinese wine, Long Dai 2017, from neigbouring fields! Chris’s vines are older, of course, and 2014 was an excellent vintage. This is a limited release of 5000 bottles.

Lucien Lardy Moulin-à-Vent Les Thorins 2021
A hugely exciting new range of Cru Beaujolais specially brought in to give us all a vinous Christmas treat, but don’t wait for Christmas.
Lucien is Laura’s dad. Quality runs in the family! His Moulin-à-Vent differs from the other Crus in this range in that it is a bit deeper, richer, more structured and has a more Burgundian feel about it. More cherries and red fruit than parma violets. Certainly one to go with the Sunday Roast or Christmas Dinner.
