  • Trisole Grillo di Sicilia

I am really enjoying the fresh, tropical fruity, citrus flavours of this Sicilian white varietal. Grapefruit was my first note, but soft not sharp, then it ends with a nice, almost bitter finish. A lovely new addition to our range and only 12.5% ABV

  • De Meye Old Vine Chenin Blanc Stellenbosch South Africa

New from Philip at De Meye, a rich style of South Africa’s trademark white varietal planted in 1978. Barrel-fermented but rich enough to cope heroically with the oak. Lovey serious wine.

  • Carneiro Estate “Tordo” Alvarinho

The second of our new wines just arrived in from Christiana at Carneiro Estate. This is 100% Alvarinho but still classified as Vinho Verde. It is fuller and rounder than the classic blend VV, but that’s Alvarinho for you! Bags of easy fruit and a great summery wine to enjoy on its own or with light foods.

This is 100% Alvarinho but still classified as We are excited to introduce a trio of super wines all from Cazas Novas in the north of Portugal, all made by Wimemaker of the Year, Diogo Lopes, and all made from the Avesso grape variety which is rapidly gaining kudos in Portugal. Fresh and crisp but with good structure and minerality. If you like Verus wines you’ll like this, I’m sure.

  • Prosecco Colli Trevigiani Sacchetto

Recommended in the Daily Telegraph: “highly drinkable, a great pick-me-up.”
Perfect party wine! Selected here to be a very different alternative to Champagne in every way; it is semi-sparkling so does not attract the higher Sparkling Duty rate. Prosecco grape is very much a light, fruity, versatile wine. Perfect also as a pre-dinner aperitif. Paolo Sacchetto’s Estate in the north east of Italy produces a range of wines, but this Prosecco is the one which stood out for me. Dry and fruity.

  • Sanz Rueda 100% Verdejo

New 2020 vintage just arrived. Hurrah! Rueda has firmly established itself as one of the premium white wine regions of Spain with the white Verdejo grape as arguably its star attraction. This 100% Verdejo epitomises the style – it’s a young, dry, light, fresh fruity style with minerality and complexity. Drink now to end 2022.

  • Mooi Bly Chenin Blanc

The return of an old friend. Erik & Liesbet’s Chenin Blanc was the only one to hit the spot for me when we first visited South Africa. This new 2019 vintage is in. Hues of fresh, green edges make the colour very inviting. The nose is almost spicy and minerally at the same time. The palate is complex; dry and minerally but still quite rich. A very satisfying white wine.

  • “The Manchu Bride” Muscat from The Treaty Port Estate China

From a vineyard established in 2005 on the Shandong peninsula by Chris Ruffle comes this crisp Muscat with a hint of sweetness, which won gold medal at the China Wine & Spirit Awards in Hong Kong. The 2018 vintage produced a high quality juice which was cold-fermented to retain the floral, lychee character of the wine. Drink chilled with seafood? Or just on its own.

  • Verus Riesling, Slovenia

    Verus Riesling, Slovenia

Verus wines need little commentary. They are all superb, demonstrating what Jancis Robinson called “a purity of fruit” when we shipped their first ever vintage in 2008. This Riesling is delciously characteristic of the slightly petrolly flavours you get with classic Rieslings. Zingy and refreshing.

  • Pinot Gris “En Coteaux” by Jeff Carrel

Well, here’s a thing. I really love Alsace Pinot Gris. It’s my favourite Alsace varietal. But Alsace for some reason is very difficult to sell. Our Pinot Gris from Verus is superb, and that sells so what is going on? This wine from Jeff Carrel – yet another off-the-wall idea from him – is made from grapes harvested in Alsace but transported down to Jeff’s winery near Narbonne and fermented there. De-classified, obviously! But what you get is a lovely honeyed style of Alsace Pinot Gris in all but name.
