New 2023 vintage of our best-selling white. After last year’s disappointing vintage, which we didn’t ship, the 2023 is right back on the money. So, after a year’s absence we welcome back a long-lost friend!
An exciting, new take on Sauvignon Blanc from Gascony; blended with a bit of spicy, slightly sweet Gros Manseng and the result is very, very more-ish, thirst quenching and maybe a bit too easy to drink. Great for all occasions.

Return of an old friend! Unoaked, fresh, crisp minerally Chardonnay for those who don’t like Chardonnay!
There’s Chardonnay and there’s Chardonnay. Here’s a lovely example of Stellenbosch’s versatility showing how Chardonnay can be crisp, minerally, dry and nothing like the tired, old, over-oaked examples we see too much of in the supermarkets. Might even say “Chablis” if you didn’t know.

Cazas Novas Avesso “Colheita”
The second of our new wines just arrived in from Christiana at Carneiro Estate. This is 100% Alvarinho but still classified as We are excited to introduce a trio of super wines all from Cazas Novas in the north of Portugal, all made by Wimemaker of the Year, Diogo Lopes, and all made from the Avesso grape variety which is rapidly gaining kudos in Portugal. Wines made from the hand-picked grapes are aged sur lies for 4 months with “batonnage”.

Perfect party wine! Selected here to be a very different alternative to Champagne in every way; it is semi-sparkling so does not attract the higher Sparkling Duty rate. Prosecco grape is very much a light, fruity, versatile wine. Perfect also as a pre-dinner aperitif. Paolo Sacchetto’s Estate in the north east of Italy produces a range of wines, but this Prosecco is the one which stood out for me. Mooi Bly Chenin Blanc
The return of an old friend. Erik & Liesbet’s Chenin Blanc was the only one to hit the spot for me when we first visited South Africa. This new 2019 vintage is in. Hues of fresh, green edges make the colour very inviting. The nose is almost spicy and minerally at the same time. The palate is complex; dry and minerally but still quite rich. A very satisfying white wine.

Chateau Lamothe-Vincent Heritage White
Gold medals at Lyon and Los Angeles (also Best in Class)
Now we have the full range of Lamothe-Vincent’s great Bordeaux wines. This is an unusual blend of sauvignon Gris and Sauvignon Blanc which has been aged in barrels for a brief time and the resultant wine is full and rich but not obviously oaky. Lovely food wine, but also great on its own. This new 2021 vintage is just fantastic!

Morillon Blanc by Jeff Carrel
A trusted old friend….rich, fat, with just a hint of oak….I put this in the category of White Burgundy look-alikes. Not the lean Chablis style, but the richer Macon end of Burgundy. Grapes with a touch of botrytis (noble rot) make this a soft, satisfying white.
