  • Jean Michel Dupré Beaujolais Villages Blanc La Ronze Blanche 2022

    A hugely exciting new range of Cru Beaujolais specially brought in to give us all a vinous Christmas treat, but don’t wait for Christmas.

    There’s a nice straw colour and a lemony nose, maybe a hint of caramel and citrus fruits. The palate is lean and minerally which to me is more reminiscent of a steely Chablis than a fat Macon so it goes really well with fruits de mer, fish dishes or just on its own as an apéro!

    One third of the blend was aged in barrels for four months. So it’s not oaky, just rounded-out.

  • Rivesaltes Ambre, Reserve Personnelle by Jeff Carrel 50cls bottle

    Only 1300 bottles produced. Barrel-aged, nutty blend of Maccabeu / Grenache Blanc / Grenache Gris. Desert wine. Difficult to describe, so here’s what the maker, Jeff, said himself;

    “Nuance, aroma & taste? I you want to know, you had better taste it for yourself!”

    Aging potential: Infinite! Keep bottle upright, do not lie it down!

  • Muscat de Beaumes de Venise

    A new find from a stylish property in the Rhone Valley. This is a deliciously grapey, muscatty, warming pud wine. Perfect for having around at Christmas,  but personally,I’d have a bottle permanently in the fridge all year round.

  • I Ciacca “Nostalgia” Maturano White from Lazio

    I Ciacca “Nostalgia” Maturano

    Once in a while a wine insists you must buy it, here’s one. Rich, fat, mouth-filling, complex, creamy and the most beautiful colour you’ll ever see on a white wine. A truly top class Italian white.

    Ever heard of the “Maturano” grape variety? Nor I.

    The Di Ciacca family, a third-generation Scots-Italian clan, has been working to bring this indigenous, organically-grown grape variety back to life on the family’s estate in Picinisco, in Lazio.

    Italian consultant Alberto Antonini (named as one of the world’s top 5 winemakers by his peers) is guiding Di Ciacca’s Maturano mission.

  • Brunelli Passito ‘Resol’

    The very finest and ripest bunches of Garganega grapes are selected, prior to undergoing four months of drying then two years of slow fermentation and careful maturation in small French oak barrels. Goes perfectly with strongly flavoured cheeses with honey, caramelized peaches or ice cream…..and yes, CHOCOLATE!

    Resol is also delicious sipped on its own. Serve at 13°C

  • Herbert Zillinger Radikal Gruner Veltliner – Quote of the Year – “Masterful”

    I have nothing to add to Jancis Robinson’s tasting note;

    “Selection of their oldest vines from the best vineyards of both Ebenthal and Ollersdorf. ‘A wine that combines both the advantages of loess soil and limestone.’  The must runs directly from the press into the large wooden barrel and is aged there on yeast lees for a year. One year in barrel, one year in bottle. ‘For us from the barren year of 2017 probably our most complete and possibly best wine so far.’ Very heady on the nose but lively and fresh on the palate. Lots of energy and intensity. Really bounces around the palate on the finish. So ripe you might think it was going to be a little sweet but it’s not at all. Such excitement. Long and dense but with lift too. Masterful. 13.5% Drink 2020–2028
