Excelsior “Paddock” Shiraz South Africa30% of the wine was aged in french and american oak barrels for 8 months.Spicy and dried herbs, every bit a Shiraz but with more restraint and structure than an Aussie Shiraz of the same price (in my humble opinion). Good spice and tannins make it good with food but it’s still soft enough to enjoy on its own. Maybe it’s the 15% of Petit Verdot in the blend which elevates it from the norm?

Perfect party wine! Selected here to be a very different alternative to Champagne in every way; it is semi-sparkling so does not attract the higher Sparkling Duty rate. Prosecco grape is very much a light, fruity, versatile wine. Perfect also as a pre-dinner aperitif. Paolo Sacchetto’s Estate in the north east of Italy produces a range of wines, but this Prosecco is the one which stood out for me. Dry and fruity.Add fields here
