  • Villa des Anges Vin Orange (Jeff)

Everyone’s talking about Orange Wines, so here’s one for you.

85% Pinot Gris / 15% Muscat.  Jeff says; “A nose of dried fruit and tangerine, typical of orange wines, fresh and easy on the palate, with a long finish of candied citrus fruit.”

  • Brunelli Bianco di Custoza

Voted  in both “money no object” and “best value for money” top 5 by our Virtual Tasters back in the day.

Bianco di Custoza has long been one of my favourite white Italian wines. Situated on the sunny shores of Lake Garda it is a blend of Trebbiano, Garganega, Cortese, Riesling and Malvasia grapes. The resultant wine is soft and creamy with a lingering minerally finish. Yummy!

  • De Meye Old Vine Chenin Blanc Stellenbosch South Africa

New from Philip at De Meye, a rich style of South Africa’s trademark white varietal planted in 1978. Barrel-fermented but rich enough to cope heroically with the oak. Lovey serious wine.

  • Dans l’Air du Temps Chardonnay by Jeff Carrel

One of Jeff’s self-proclaimed top five wines (of his own). Soft, rich, buttery Chardonnay but just a hint of oak, most comforting.

  • Verus Pinot Gris, Slovenia

    Verus Pinot Gris, Slovenia

Verus wines need little commentary. They are all superb, demonstrating what Jancis Robinson called “a purity of fruit” when we shipped their first ever vintage in 2008. This Pinot Gris is pure, fruity but nice and full in the mouth.

  • Pinot Gris “En Coteaux” by Jeff Carrel

Well, here’s a thing. I really love Alsace Pinot Gris. It’s my favourite Alsace varietal. But Alsace for some reason is very difficult to sell. Our Pinot Gris from Verus is superb, and that sells so what is going on? This wine from Jeff Carrel – yet another off-the-wall idea from him – is made from grapes harvested in Alsace but transported down to Jeff’s winery near Narbonne and fermented there. De-classified, obviously! But what you get is a lovely honeyed style of Alsace Pinot Gris in all but name.

  • Cazas Novas Avesso “Pure”

We are excited to introduce a trio of super wines all from Cazas Novas in the north of Portugal, all made by Wimemaker of the Year, Diogo Lopes, and all made from the Avesso grape variety which is rapidly gaining kudos in Portugal. Wines made from the hand-picked grapes are aged sur lies for 4 months with “batonnage”.
One step up from the “Colheita”; selected parcels of grapes, lower production result in a lovely creaminess as well as its fresh crisp palate and good structure and minerality as well as extra bottle age. If you like Verus wines you’ll like this, for sure.

  • Château d’Or et de Gueules “Le Fût entre 2 Chaises” ORANGE WINE

Following the runaway success of Mathieu’s Syrah, they have introduced a pink and now also an “Orange”. 100% Rolle grapes (aka Vermentino) fermented  with the skins as you would a red wine, but no colour extraction, well, a bit – orange.
