Exciting news!
“Mathelot” is Fabien Vincent’s new Cru, brother to Le Grand Rossignol.
Very simply; if Le Grand Rossignol is a taste of finest Pomerol Merlot for a fraction of the price, then Mathelot is a like a top Médoc but at a fraction of the price.
75% Cabernet Sauvignon with all of the deep, dark intense blackcurrent tones you would expect. 18 months in best quality oak barrels.. Gold Medals galore already.
This is the first ever vintage and I was privileged to taste it from the barrel before it was bottled.
Let me just say I’m putting four cases into the cellar for myself. As with the Grand Rossignol, it can be enjoyed young but Fabien says it will hit the heights of pleasure at between 8 to 15 years of age, so 4 to 10 years from now.
As with the Grand Rossignol we are happy to store your cases free of charge here in our cool warehouse for as long as you like unless you want delivery straight away.
They produce stunning wines at all levels and all colours. Co-owner Fabien Vincent is 2024 Bordeaux Winemaker of the Year. This record-breaking, Gold Medal-winning, Merlot-dominated beauty is marked by Fabien’s trademark deep, dark, inky colour with flavours to match. It is the benchmark at which all inexpensive clarets should aim, in my opinion. The estate is fully organic and meticulous attention to detail and commitment to the environment at all stages of the development of the wines from the vineyard via the fermentation vats and oak barrels to the bottles is what makes Chateau Lamothe-Vincent such a magical place.
An ideal match for red meats, lamb, roast duck. Serve from 62 to 66°F. Open the bottle 24H before servicing OR immediately in a decanter. Optimum: 8/10 years. Ageing potential: 25 years.
