Cerejeiras Portuguese Red
This is a delightfully fresh, fruity, unoaked red from the Lisbon Region. A blend of Castelão (60%), Aragonez (30%) and Touriga Nacional (10%)….classic, eh?! Well, unknown they may be, but the resultant juicy, fruity, soft and fleshy red is comfort wine par excellence.

Les Darons by Jeff Carrel

Big, soft red, yet good acidity makes this a great food wine as well as one to drink on its own. A great example of southern french red wine, bursting with peppery tannins and earthy fruit.

Chateau d’Or et de Gueules ‘Les Cimels’ Red Organic
Chateau d’Or et de Gueules ‘Les Cimels’ Red Organic
Super new 2018 vintage which is certified organic. It is a wonderfully consistent wine which also manages to take on the character of the vintage vagaries. Consistently a best selller, consistently recommended in the Press. So, here you have an even deeper colour than usual, and enough body to make it a real laster!
….and if you like your reds with “minerality”, go no further!

Casabel Portuguese Red
Lovely soft red with vibrant cherry-like fruit. A great example of just how much fun Portuguese wines can be.
This is a soft, yet well-structured, unoaked red from the Lisbon Region. If the Cerejeiras is defined by easy fruit, this has a bit more oomph, so will take richer food. It has lovely clean fruit character.

Domaine de Cray Touraine Rouge
I went to the Wine Fair in Paris in February to hunt out a Loire Sauvignon Blanc. After much tasting found a firm favourite in Domaine de Cray. As luck would have it, they also produce this very classic Loire red made from 50% Gamay (as in Beaujolais), 30% Cabernet Franc, and 20% Cot. It’s fresh, it’s light and combines hints of freshly mown grass from the Cabernet with the parma violets from the Gamay. A really super summer wine with great complexity.

NEW – Domaine des Nymphes Cotes du Rhone Villages Red
A new find from a stylish property in the Rhone Valley. I just love the voluptuous, fleshy, grapiness of this predominantly Grenache blend. The Syrah gives it a grip which ensures it’s also a great food wine. Spicy and soft lingering flavours……

Peninsula de Lisboa Portuguese Red
Step-by-step we increase the intensity and complexity from the Lisbon Region. This time a blend of Castelão (50%) and Aragonez (50%) which is aged for six months in oak barrels. There’s a beautiful clean structure about this wine (maybe the absence of the rustic Touriga?). Harmonious and spicy. Yum.

La Bette Cotes du Roussillon Villages Red by Jeff Carrel
Big, deep colour, good grip due in part to 65% Syrah in the blend but also to Jeff’s preferred style of reds which retain those firm tannins and acidity making them great food wines.

Domaine d’Ansignan “Les Grenadines” by Jeff Carrel
Never say never…I wasn’t convinced by the pre-taste description, but why worry? If Jeff makes it chances are it’ll be a cracker. Guess what? I loved it.
It’s somewhere between a light red (Beaujolais Nouveau) and a Rose. Drink it nicely chilled and enjoy the cherry, redcurrant, strawberry flavours resulting from the blend of Grenache / Maccabeu / Carignan / Syrah / Pellut. Just perfect for the summer.
Les Grenadines comes from the fact that they are planting pomegranate trees next to the vineyard.

“The Prince” from The Treaty Port Estate China
From a vineyard established in 2005 on the Shandong peninsula by Chris Ruffle comes his unique, gold-medal winning, Petit Verdot/Arinarnoa blend. Gently oaky, this is a lovely clean, velvety red from one of the world’s new emerging vineyard areas. The Prince rather liked braised pork and Beijing roast duck, could go rather well with this wine!
