  • Brunelli Bianco di Custoza

Voted  in both “money no object” and “best value for money” top 5 by our Zoom Tasters this summer.

Bianco di Custoza has long been one of my favourite white Italian wines. Situated on the sunny shores of Lake Garda it is a blend of Trebbiano, Garganega, Cortese, Riesling and Malvasia grapes. The resultant wine is soft and creamywith a lingering minerally finish. Yummy!

  • Chateau d’Or et de Gueules “AB” (A Boire) White Organic

Chateau d’Or et de Gueules “AB” (A Boire) White Organic

New to Diane and Mathieu’s range showcasing their now wholly organic estate. A blend of Chardonnay (this is where the grapes of the now discontinued “Cep de Diane” went) and Vermentino. It’s fat and biscuity and organic and clean and fruity and you should try some!

  • Domaine Laffitte Gros Manseng/Petit Manseng Dessert Wine

Really lovely spicey pudding wine from Gascony. Gros & Petit Manseng blend. However, I could probably sip my way through it on a hat summer’s day all on its own.

  • Domaine de Cray Cremant de Loire

I went to the Wine Fair in Paris in February to hunt out a Loire Sauvignon Blanc. After much tasting found a firm favourite in Domaine de Cray. As luck would have it, they also produce this very smart fizz. Made by the “Champagne” method with two years’ aging on the lees before disgorging.

  • Sobroso Portuguese White Herdade do Sobroso “Barrique Select”

Creamy, soft and clean. This wine was aged in new oak barrels for a bare three months and then undewent a similar period “sur lie”. The result is rather Burgundian and goes into my “creamy whites” category.
The Herdade do Sobroso is on the banks of the Guadiana River which was known in roman times as “Flumen Anas” – River of Ducks. Guess why…..yes, because there are loads of ducks here.
