Excelsior Sauvignon Blanc South Africa
Great quaffing wine, but rather a superior quaffing wine from a great Estate in Robertson! Green appley characters but not sharp. Refreshing and fruity, finishes with that touch of minerality which elevates it from the masses. Lovely summer wine….and any other time!Sauvignon BlancCrisp & Refreshing WhitesSouth Africa2018750 ml13-13.5%
Excelsior “Paddock” Shiraz South Africa
This is widely regarded as the El Nino year in South Africa. The summer was hotter and riper than normal which required some adaptation in the vineyards to ensure a quality grape harvest. Grapes were harvested earlier than normal to ensure that there was freshness in the wines. The positive aspect of the drought was a very healthy crop with good concentration. The red wines from 2017 are rich and very structured.
30% of the wine was aged in french and american oak barrels for 8 months.Spicy and dried herbs, every bit a Shiraz but with more restraint and structure than an Aussie Shiraz of the same price (in my humble opinion). Good spice and tannins make it good with food but it’s still soft enough to enjoy on its own. Maybe it’s the 15% of Petit Verdot in the blend which elevates it from the norm?Shiraz/SyrahRich & Fruity RedsSouth Africa2017750 ml14%+
Excelsior Purebred Red South Africa
From a great Estate in Robertson Shiraz Vines and Merlot combine together with a hint of oak, but mainly left to settle and rest in tank for nine months before release. Blackcurrants, cherries and spices. This is a soft and smooth wine very easy to drink on its own.Red BlendsSoft & Smooth RedsSouth Africa2017750 ml14%+

Abbotts & Delaunay Syrah
Spicy Shiraz from the south of France. Soft tannins, nice ‘n spicy. Long skin contact for deep colour, a hint of oak aging for complexity….rather a nice wine, really!

Domaine de Belle Mare Les Collines Picpoul/Vermentino/Viognier
Picpoul is not the only white varietal down in the Oc, there are plenty of others, such as this. The blend is Picpoul for freshness and va-va-voom, Vermentino for a bit of grip and Viognier for a bit more body. The result is a lovely round, fruity dry wine with good length.White BlendsDry & Soft WhitesFrance2018750 ml13-13.5%
