    Laurent Miquel Solas Viognier

I really do like Viognier and Laurent Miquel is demonstrating pretty effectively that it works as a grape at all price levels….Peaches and apricots???

  • Laurent Miquel Solas Chardonnay (oaked)

    Laurent Miquel Solas Chardonnay (oaked)

60% of the blend was aged in oak barrels for 4 months, so there’s a clean but subtle hint of oak, not a heavy oak at all. Another great example of why we should love Chardonnay!

  • Domaine de Cray Sauvignon de Touraine

I went to the Wine Fair in Paris in February to hunt out a Loire Sauvignon Blanc. After much tasting )over 100) found a firm favourite in Domaine de Cray.

Sauvignon Blanc can often be quite sharp, especially from a so-called “cool” climate region like the Loire Valley. So imagine my pleasure after many, many  slurps of quite sharp and acidic versions this lovely softer Sauvignon tickled my palate. No compromise on the flavour, nor on the freshness and summeriness, but nice and round. A beaut for the summer.

  • Dans l’Air du Temps Chardonnay by Jeff Carrel

One of Jeff’s self-proclaimed top five wines (of his own). Soft, rich, buttery Chardonnay but just a hint of oak, most comforting.

  • Brunelli Bianco di Custoza

Voted  in both “money no object” and “best value for money” top 5 by our Zoom Tasters this summer.

Bianco di Custoza has long been one of my favourite white Italian wines. Situated on the sunny shores of Lake Garda it is a blend of Trebbiano, Garganega, Cortese, Riesling and Malvasia grapes. The resultant wine is soft and creamywith a lingering minerally finish. Yummy!

  • Plein la Vue Organic Sauvignon Blanc by Jeff Carrel

I selected this wine first and foremost because it’s a lovely mouth-filling Sauvignon Blanc, fat and fruity -no edge to it. A happy extra is that it’s a slight 12.5% alcohol and it’s certified organic. What’s not to like?

  • Domaine Métairie d’Alon “Le Village” Chardonnay

Organically grown and produced by a Burgundian in Limoux. The grapes are hand picked and the juice fermented in small stainless steel vats with long lees aging. A tiny part of the blend was fermented in oak to add nuance, but you don’t get any sort of big oak flavours here, more of a Chablis style.
