From a vineyard established in 2005 on the Shandong peninsula by Chris Ruffle comes this Syrah based red. The predominantly aromatic Syrah is supported by Merlot softness and Petit Verdot colour. Gently aged in french oak barrels this is a lovely clean red from one of the world’s new emerging vineyard areas.
The philosopher in question is the 13thC Taoist Qiu Chuji whose temple lies in the vineyard.

This is the epitome of champagne. If Marc Chauvet’s non-vintage Brut Tradition is all that is good about everyday champagne drinking (if such a thing even exists!) with 4 years before disgorging, then this 2009 vintage has spent 6 years before disgorging and is simply a delightfully elegant and silky top bottle of champagne. You would have to spend a lot more money (probably £75-100) to find a wine as good as this with a famous name!

This wine was the very first one we had recommended in the national press when we started the business back in 2006.
The new 2021 vintage is arguably even better, I love it. Think creamy rich white Cotes du Rhone. Three months in barrel just to soften it out a bit and give a rich, soft nicely balanced white wine that will go really well with your Sunday roast.

Previous vintages RECOMMENDED IN THE OBSERVER. The 2009 vintage displays a beautiful balance and is as good a white from the south of France as you will see anywhere. 50% of the blend is barrel-fermented Roussanne; the rest is unoaked Grenache Blanc and Rolle. It is a rich wine with an excellent balance of oak and will be perfect with your Sunday roast.

One of Diane’s 100% varietal wines showcasing the best of the local varieties. Made from 100% Carignan grapes from very old vines and aged in barrels for eight months. It’s difficult to find new words for a new wine from Diane as they are all just soooo good! This is no exception; rich with fruit and depth of colour with elegant balance. Drink now to 2029.
